Frequently Asked Questions

Tracking devices and smartphones have a GPS receiver. It obtains signals from a number of stationary satellites positioned in earth’s orbit, and the combination of these signals will allow the device to determine its location in terms of latitude and longitude coordinates. The device send these coordinates, along with the unique device identifier, to the Btracking server through a wireless network, and this information is used to plot the device’s location on the Btracking Mapping Platform.

No. We do notice competitors selling inexpensive but low quality, failure-prone trackers. There can be high attrition among GPS Tracking customers, and it seems some competitors believe selling a device that fails in a year is a good idea since you'll no longer be using their GPS tracking by then anyway.

We prefer to offer the most accurate, feature rich, reliable, longest lasting trackers on the market. They can grab a GPS satellite fix and report a position from almost anywhere (even indoors!), they last for years and years, and software is updated regularly and automatically over the air. And since the majority of our customers have been with us for years, we know this is the right approach.

No. Btracking provides the wireless data plan which is included in your subscription price.

Yes, if you like. Just create, or let us create for you, geofences around those areas you want to be notified about, and enable an alert (email, text, or just a notice on the mapping platform). Then when a tracked item enters or leaves that area, you'll know. Geofences can also be directly coded into tracking devices, and can be assigned automatically. Geofences can also be drawn on a route to let you know when a tracked item strays too far from that route. Geofences are ideal for sales territories, work sites, regularly travleed routes, and much more.

Yes. Set up your work schedule. We'll create an alert so you'll know whenever the vehicle moves outside those hours. Alerts can be seen on the mapping platform and/or sent via email or SMS text message.

Yes. You can set up an "Hours of Operation" schedule for any number of groups, with any number of vehicles or individuals, and disable tracking outside those hours.

The plug in tracking device plugs into the OBD port located at the bottom of the dashboard, next to the steering column, often next to the park brake. If you look down, you can see it. The plug in tracker can be concealed by using a wire harness. Hardwired trackers can be placed behind the dashboard, in the glove box, or in other discrete locations around the vehicle. The choice is yours. If the device stops tracking, or is unplugged, you will know. In our experience, the best approach, and greatest benefits, most often derive from working together with your drivers. Btracking lets you plan better routes, save fuel, and help your employees be better, safer drivers.

GPS trackers with accelerometers and access to the vehicle's diagnostics provide a wealth of data beyond positioning. For example, many alerts are developed based on algorithms such as accelerating or braking beyond a set parameter. Btracking encourages its clients to discuss their requirements with your representative to make sure alerts and reports match your requirements.
